Area Description :
The hamlet is two miles from the ancient roman bridge, magnificent twelfth century abbey and river creuse at the pretty village of moutier d‘ahun. Old towns, chateaux, museums, fishing/swimming lakes and forests are all in easy reach and beautiful countryside is in abundance. Creuse is mainly a farming community and we are surrounded by beautiful countryside with many woods and forests, valleys, lakes and rivers - ideal for walking, cycling, horse riding or touring in the car. There are many interesting places to visit. Aubusson, is just 25 minutes away, the capital of tapestry and the river runs through the town which has some very quaint, old areas. The region’s capital, limoges, is about an hour and quarter's drive away, famous for its porcelain and lace and many interesting shops. Our own department’s capital, gueret, is a 25 minutes drive and has markets twice a week in the large square with its old big fountain and just outside of gueret is the forested area of lake courtille, a lovely place for picnics, walking round the lake or swimming and during the “season” there is a water-park. Forests edge gueret for some wonderful walks/hikes/cycle routes and also just outside of gueret is the new labyrinthe, and also a wolf park with an observation tower. Approximately 50 minutes away is lake vassiviere, a grand lake where one can chose to lazily sun-bathe, sit in the shade of trees, paddle, swim, or drive further round to an area where boat trips cross the lake. There is also a tree adventure park open during the summer season where one can skate-board etc high above in the trees! there are also many, many smaller villages and towns with their own attractions - masgot - was the birthplace of one of the most famous sculptors of france - his house and the entire village has many interesting sculptures on display plus a small museum and artist's studio, with a lake just outside the village. Near boussac are “les pierres jaumatres” where 40 enormous stones from the ice-age have come to rest in that wooded area - ideal for walkers. Sous-parsat is an incredibly pretty village of immaculate stone houses, with very pretty surrounding gardens and a church that has been hand-painted in virtually the whole of its inside, with murals telling the tale of the bible - both old and new testament - by the local artist, gabriel chabrat, who also has his own studio in the village. Bousseau has a bridge designed by eiffel and one can clearly see the connection.
